Along the main street through Bollington, turn into High Street. The Red Lion is at the very far end, the top of the street - carpark on the left, pub on the right.
Oddity:
A long time ago, when coal was delivered to your door by a lad with a wooden wheelbarrow with a wooden wheel shod with a metal band, they held a race starting at the aqueduct in Palmerston Street, along Water Street and up High Street to finish at the Red Lion - pushing their barrows loaded with two hundredweight (c.100kg) of coal - and they ran all the way! I wonder how many modern lads could do that today?
