Macclesfield Town fans are being urged not to leave valuables on show when they park their cars during matches.

The Police advice follows a small number of thefts from vehicles parked near the Moss Rose during match on Saturday 31st October.

The Football Liaison Officer, Sgt Carl Capewell, says, "Following discussions with the Club I've been in contact with the local NPU Inspector, Gareth Woods, who is committed to preventing any further incidents of this nature. He and his Team will work pro-actively in an attempt to identify possible offenders for this and any other crimes in the area.

In the meantime, I advise those supporters travelling to games in their vehicles to take the sort of precautions that are sensible whenever a car is left in a public place. This includes not leaving anything of value on display - or anything that suggests items of value are hidden within the vehicle.

Should anyone have any information in relation to the recent thefts they are urged to contact us on 0845 458 0000."

"We have an excellent working relationship with the Cheshire Constabulary," said Macclesfield Town Chairman Mike Rance. "The Club will continue to work closely with the Police with regards to this and other matters to ensure that all supporters can attend the Moss Rose in a safe and crime free environment."
